I had a consultation with the hair expert discussing the day-to-day challenges I face with managing my hair, especially in the summer heat and how to cater to them.

I am always in the look out for healthy food, my excitement and interest in looking for good, clean, flavorful food got me to Forage. Forage, located in Defence Colony, Indiranagar is a perfect place for a quite afternoon with yourself when you need sometime out, while browsing through a mini library that the space entails. You could also do a lunch with your girlfriends there or just go out on a date ! Forage, is one of those few places I have been, where there is a lot of thought given to the food and space. It’s environment friendly and done up with great taste.

That afternoon I met some wonderful and extremely talented ladies from various walks of life. I’m so glad I got to meet them. We gathered around food and spoke so much about the IPL matches, giving tips to a friend who was planning her Eurotrip and Botany painting on postcards too. All of that while we were lunching at the calm and soothing ambience of Forage.

Now coming to what we were served at lunch – was an assortment of delicious and healthy eating – we began with nibbling on the sourdough along with the dip.

Then came the Caper salad – which was Cucumber, Capers & Peanut with soy dressing, toasted nori, lettuce & a touch of chilli.

Fig and Feta – Wine soaked figs, oven roasted tomatoes & feta

Aubergine Crostini – Aubergine and tahini spread on sourdough bread with garlic garnished with pomegranate & mint

Petite Lamb Chops – with walnut pesto and parsleyed baby potatoes 

Beef Fillet – beef with shallot confit, pumpkin mash and sauteed mushrooms

Beetroot Prawn Pasta – rice pasta with prawns, thyme & zested lemon

Jalapeno Mushroom Pasta – tangy mushrooms, baby spinach and Jalapeno spiced pasta with parmesan & lime

I loved them all – each dish was starkly different from the other. Even though I’m a hard-core non-vegetarian, I was actually salivating on the vegetarian dishes too. The Jalapeno and Mushroom pasta definitely needs a special mention – tops my list !

Also, their menu has so much to offer that you cannot obviously taste it all at one shot. Therefore, I need to go back again and again. I already know what I want to try the next time i’m there.

We wrapped our afternoon on a sweet note – with the Chocolate torte – from the moment it was served, we were drooling. I have a sweet tooth and can’t resist so I had my first bite and it was oh-so-delish! It was awfully sinful !!It attracts you with the aroma and you fall in love with each bite.

Post lunch, we decided to take a tour of the beautiful space and get tons of pictures clicked amidst the greenery. Do not miss the terrace, just for a glimpse of the amazing work that Omal does here with the gardening – apart from managing the operations at Forage. We couldn’t get enough of it and i’m sure you guys will love it too !

I’ve also been on the lookout for a high-waisted straight fit palazzo pants, ever since I spotted them on a random signboard while I was in London a few months ago. I bought this one from a local boutique on the same trip, and couldn’t wait to shoot something fun wearing it! We took these shots a little after my trip actually, but me being me, it took me a while to get them up on the blog! Better late than never, I guess. This outfit was a combination that turned out to be a surprising favorite! I’ve always been a bit wary of the wide-leg palazzo solid/printed pants as I figured it would drown me in fabric and make my short legs look even shorter. On the contrary, I love the way these culottes actually make my legs look longer and is a style that’s instantly classy yet casual. It’s the comfort of pajama pants combined with the elegance of dress pants in one! I love that this pair fits me so well around my waist and also the fabric has a good fall for the ultimate functionality and comfort. Once you wear palazzo pants, I can guarantee that you won’t want to take them off!

ADD EXTRA HEIGHT: Pair it with heels. Whether it be a chunky heel, a pointy stiletto, or platform wedges, pair your palazzo pants/culottes with heels to give the illusion of a few more inches. I personally am in love with these sandals and they’re decently comfortable given the fact that they have a 4″ heel. I actually own them in 3 different colors and you’d find them at the popular branded stores like a Charles and Keith or Steve Madden or H&M.

ELONGATE THE LEGS: Wear on high waist. In the same vein, I would also recommend wearing culottes on the natural waistline or even just a tad higher if they are long enough. It’s all about the legs in the case of the silhouette you want to create with palazzo pants so be sure that the pants are the focus of the outfit!

ACCENTUATE THE WAIST: Pair with fitted, crop or tucked-in top. To avoid looking like a giant block (not cute!), you want to make sure that your outfit has a defined waistline. To contrast the billowy fabric of the palazzo pant, I would recommend picking a top that’s fitted or even cropped (love this one too!).  I love how the crop top accentuates the waist and the polka dots on a navy matches so well with the white culottes.

KEEP IT SIMPLE: Go with a printed/striped top. Culottes normally come in solid colors so it’s good to balance it with an edgy top. Whereas if the culottes are printed/striped, you can go with a basic solid top. This polka dotted crop top is versatile enough and also has a cute bow at the back!

ADD STATEMENT ACCESSORIES: Give it a final pop. And lastly, finish the outfit with jewelry that stands out. I wanted to keep it simple hence, I have added a palm cuff and aviators to accessorize the look but you could add a contrasting choker too. This white Chanel bag is one of my favorites and I love how it made the look both easy-going yet edgy.

Other accessory options include a colorful scarf or over-sized floppy hat that would also balance out the culottes and give the outfit that elevated and effortless look.

The resort sprawls — kilometers and makes use of its land with spectacular landscaping. It’s one of the largest resorts in the Maldives. I happened to travel with family. We receive warm greetings at the pier, after a round of welcome drinks and seamless check in, we are immediately driven to our Villa in a beach buggy.
I had no idea of what was coming up next.. that I was going to witness the most breathtaking view I had ever seen !

With four main categories of rooms to choose from, the unquestionable best is the Water Villa/Haven Villa; two rows of over-water villas march down the lagoon, each with an extension leading to the sea, all the way up to the Farumathi (seafood speciality) Restaurant at the very end that magnificently looms over them all. As we
explore the villas hemming the wooden walkway that crisscrosses over the crystalline water, we see snorkelers below, languidly splashing by observing the scintillating fishes and sharks pups that frequent these waters. The rooms themselves are a delight for honeymooners, with absolute privacy and luxury made complete by the astounding sight of shades of blue as far as the eye can see.

There’s an extension/veranda at each of these villas, with a bathtub in the Water Villas and temperature controlled jacuzzis in the Haven Villas, a couple of beach recliners to soak in the sun, a lounge for a quiet private candle-lit dinner and a private staircase which leads straight down into the sea.
Before we investigate other accommodation options at the resort, we head out to lunch at The Lagoon, which caters exclusively to the guests staying at the Villas.

The Lagoon restaurant is nestled amidst the Water Villas with a pristine view of the blue sea and sky, offers a complete cuisine, rich in variety and taste. A meal here will always be an unforgettable experience.It has elaborated buffet setups during mealtimes. You would have the freedom to choose from Indian, Maldivian, and European cuisines to your hearts content.
After satisfying our hunger pangs, we began our inspection of all accommodation, water sports and facilities that the resort offers.

At the very end of the walkway, stands the vast presidential suite, with exquisite design and luxury. With the aquamarine scenery of the lagoon against a backdrop of azure skies, guests would no doubt feel like they’ve escaped from the confines of time and the rest of the world. The song of the sea and wind lulls the euphoria of decadent peace. There is absolutely no choice except to kick back and relax, to enjoy the tropical sunshine and some serious alone time, while at the same time reveling in all the amenities you could want during a getaway.
You would not want to leave this part of the resort, solely because of the surreal atmosphere it emanates, while the island is still visible some distance away virtually detached.

The Farumathi Restaurant joins the two rows of water villas that march down the lagoon. The sea food restaurant build on the edge of the reef faces the sunrise and the breathtaking Indian Ocean. It offers a unique dining experience with an easy-going ocean view ambiance and serves a variety of seafood including the Maldivian lobster. The adjoining large open air terrace offers a relaxing atmosphere where you can have a drink, a light meal, afternoon tea or an after dinner cocktail.

Those queasy of living over water can choose the splendor of the high-end Beach bungalows, which includes Garden View bungalows(sun villas) and Beach bungalows(sunset villas).

To break the monotony, I had divided my stay between the Water Villa and Sunset Villas. I did not want to miss anything that this little piece of heaven had to offer. After my first 4 nights at the pristine Water Villa, I had shifted to the Beach bungalow.
The sunset villas are more modern, plush, and packed with amenities. The veranda here faces the west-side lagoon which lights up in vibrant gold when the sun dips to kiss the purple horizon, a glorious view that puts the perfect end to a relaxing day. The sunset can be enjoyed even if you’re cuddling in bed, thanks to the large picture window directly across that grants a satisfying view. The sun villas, meanwhile, are further inland and fenced in for private with no view to speak of. There’s a veranda adjoining the room facing the sea where you can lounge sipping on your coffee in the evenings. However, the villas house subtle delights such as a small garden and a better outdoor shower area.

For the guests living at the Beach Bungalows, theres a main restaurant. A Japanese speciality restaurant FUKUYA TEPPANYAKI, for authentic Maldives sushi, and the main bar named Athiri. The main restaurant is a veritable labyrinth of chairs and tables, being the largest restaurant in the archipelago, which gives an effect of adventure to our scrambling to and from the scrumptious and widely varied buffet. We have the freedom to choose from Indian, Maldivian, and European cuisines to our hearts content.

In addition to this, the resort offers a varied range of water activities like snorkelling, Scuba diving, paragliding etc and also day packages which includes island
hopping in a speedboat, dolphin watching, fishing, shark-feeding etc.

In the resort, I have spent the major part of my stay breathing the beauty of Paradise and soaking in the sun. And being a water baby, I was always found in the pool or by the beach or in the Jacuzzi, which did give me a tan but I came back home with irreplaceable memories and happy tan lines.
